Hormone Testing

We use a take home saliva kit by ZRT Laboratory called the Hormone Profile. Once you meet with one of our practitioners, you may purchase this kit at Leaves of Life to take home and complete. Once you mail it to the laboratory, they send your practitioner the results for you to review with her and to create a plan to bring healing and balance to your hormones. (See a sample test here).

-Estradiol, estrone and estriol, collectively referred to as estrogens

-Testosterone and its precursor, DHEA-sulfate

-Progesterone

-The adrenal hormone cortisol

Almost 100% of steroid hormones in the bloodstream are bound to carrier proteins, meaning they’re not able to interact at hormone receptor sites. Saliva testing measures only bio-available hormones, so results will better relate to symptoms of excess or deficiency. For patients using topical hormone replacement, saliva testing is the most accurate way to assess dosing.
